The dash red immobiliser blinking light is now on permanently & occasionally the vehicle will not start as if the immobiliser/key is no longer programmed
Question: do the keys loose there program & is the light a warning or do I just have a intermittent fault ???? any ideas out there
regards Vince

Hi,

If it's lost its code then it won't work at all. Check your key and make sure the little red chip still in there looks like a little button.

non of the keys have a red chip but they all work & then out of the blue the red light comes on & stays on whilst driving every thing works & then stop & it might start or not that's the problem

Odd every Patrol key I have ever seen had a little chip in them that hold the code. My spare key doesn't have the chip and it will start the car but it will die within seconds.

In yours the chip migt be inside the actual key. Mine is from a 99 GU so yours might be different.

its a 2004 4.2 there is a sealed section in the key Non removable where the program is & yes it turns over & it will start sometimes & not other times & this happens on all 3 keys I have, it all started at the same time the dash light just came on & stayed on
I will have to find how to disconnect the immobilizer
