DVD player isn't a bad idea. We have one (a JVC) that connects to the TV and the sound is played through the stereo speakers.

If you have an I-phone,I-pod or I-pad, you could buy a docking station. That way it's easy to install, only need to plug in and easy to store all your music without bring all your CD collection with you.

docking station is another item to carry......suggest the player has an input jack instead that your I-Pod can play through..........consider outside speakers (on a separate isolation switch for when u are inside and dont want to annoy others nearby)......fringe area reception model (we have Axis) as normal city types have inferior reception when outside built up areas
Life is a journey, it is not how we fall down, it is how we get up.

The docking station I have is the same size as a car cd player. But also comes with usb, SD MMC Card, radio and CD player all for $75.00. A lot better value than the $380.00 odd cost of a car CD player. And It comes with it's own speakers

$380 You can buy a reasonable Car CD player with Ipod input for under $150 frequently at Supercrap or Autobarn

Hi Ross,
I installed/replaced the CD player in our caravan last year. I hunted around for a unit that was a car type unit but was capable of playing DVD's & CD's. I found a really good one that Repco had on sale it's a JVC. Not sure of the exact model but it would pay to have a look at their web site. Anyhow the main thing your going to have to deal will is getting 12V power to it once you pick a place to install it. All the bit's & pieces I needed I got from my local Jaycar store and the guys there were really helpful. They came up with some good suggestions along the way. Wit the DVD side of things you can run a normal red, white, yellow rca cable from the back of the unit to a plate some where near by so you can play dvd's & connect a tv to them if you require, that's what I did & it worked out great. The other challenge will be mounting speakers and running the wires for these un-seen. Best of luck & let us all know how it turned out.

Hi Ross,

I'll second what Bungarra said, get one with better than standard reception capabilities and a better than normal ariel/antenna. The standard set ups do not give you great reception when you get away from the main cities, towns.
