We are still getting members in the last few days saying they are coming to Silverton for the gathering.

Fantastic.

Just as well we have about 80 acres, we might need it.

One member is there already and there will be quite a few more arriving during the week.

Even if you can only stay for a few days, I am sure that you will have a ball.

There will be a lot of new faces there, all keen to see what the bloke with that screen name looks like and have a yarn with him.

See you there.

cheers

Dave

Spent the day in Geraldton, finding a dentist to do root canal on a real crook molar, got into the chair at 1.30 for 1.5 hrs, pain temporarkly fixed, wallet lighter, back on the road tomorrow and should roll into Silverton on Friday.

What a bummer.
Temporary fix. That sounds ominous.

G'day Dave

I'll be on leave next week but as you already know, I'm committed to working on the "new" home this year instead of travelling. So what I'd really like is a 2012 gathering somewhere not too far for next year as we may not be able to take 4 - 6 weeks next year either.

I insist that folks at the gathering don't enjoy themselves too much and Mark G - aka The Heckler" behaves himself hahahahehehe. As if that's going to happen.

Cheers

G'day John, I don't think there has been any suggestions where the next gathering will be.

I hope there will be a suggested location while we are in Silverton.

Love your rules for the horseshoe contest too. We will abide by them.

cheers

We're coming and looking forward to it! It's been a while since we've been out anywhere.
Heading off to Birdsville afterwards.
Just wondering what the flies are like at the moment (yeah yeah, don't laugh. I know it's part of it!). I've heard about the rats.
The only other time we ever went outback at this time of the year it turned unseasonably hot (like 42 degrees!) and we were chewing flies down - like we've never experienced before and that was also after rain out there had greened everything up.
To bring the fly tent or not.....that is the question.

(ok, so I've turned a bit tenderfoot -ish.)

Tracy, we haven't had any of the mice or rats in around here that I know of, and, being spring time, the weather is a bit changeable.

We haven't had many flies around either, but if you are going up Birdsville way, then it could be anything further north.

I suggest do what the boy scouts recommend, be prepared.
We get a bit of wind this time of the year.
Nothing to do with curried baked beans either.

cheers

Thanks Dave.
Curried baked beans? Now there's a thought for the menu.
I'll argue with the other half and see if I can squeeze that fly tent in, juuuust in case.

I didn't even get a chance to argue. She just put it into the camper and gave me that look :)

Another question, shows how long it is since I have been posting on the forums. What has happened to the olf fuel price update pages. I am trying to get an idea of the diesel prices out at Innamincka / Birdsville then down through QLD, but am not having too much luck at all right now.

I assume that it is no longer on the site, but is there anywhere else that anyone knows of where people are posting current diesel / petrol prices?

Cheers

Richard

Richard, I haven't looked for the fuel prices on here for a long time, but I see there is a question on the forum now about fuel prices across the Nullabor.

There are a few members who have been around Birsdsville and Innaminka lately, so another query on the forum as a new thread maybe the best way.
cheers

Well I thought I would link to the very old post from back in 2007 for a little bit of amusement.

As we will be arriving on Monday when most people will already be there, you can all grab a beer and some nibbles, sit back and enjoy the free entertainment :)

She will kill me for posting this, but I will have 1300 kms to calm her down before we arrive.

Which way should the camper trailer face?

Cheers

Just a reminder that Broken Hill is in NSW/Vic/SA Fruit Fly Exclusion Zone. It is cheaper in the long run to do your fresh fruit and vegie shopping at Broken Hill rather than have to ditch it in a bin on the way in.
