Maybe I'm getting jaded but after going to Penrith today, the first caravan show I've been to in eighteen months I felt it was very much SOS..... Same Old Stuff. Most of the 'vans were very similar in design, price and fit-out using the same or similar components, as a buyer it would be very difficult to to choose between different builders.
Prices for most medium sized 'vans (18' 6" +) with shower and toot was about $52K up.
My whinge for today.

Racinrob,
Yes, they are all very similiar and it makes you wonder about the price when you look at what you are getting?
Some of these offroaders, makes you wonder if the money is worth the trailer given the roads now across the country.

In my quest to buy an offroader I end up thinking the samed thing i.e. where do I want to go that needs all this wizardry.
At the last show I went to a salesman was quite surprised when I mentioned that I didn't want a shower and
toilet, his response was that I would find it very difficult to offload it as "everyone" wants a shower and
toilet in their vans.
Back to the think tank.
Cheers,
onemore

I wouldnt call it a whinge..Constructive criticism. Like you I cannot see where the money goes into some of these vans. Plywood, aluminium and chipboard are probably 3 of the cheapest building materials on the market.
cheers

Morn racinrob,
Have to agree with you on the shower comment the salesperson gave you, we got the same speel.
They difference i found in the vans we looked at were the mainly the little intricate detail and finishing of the product ( not always required mind you). We compaired the van we brought, only about a month ago to a very popular make and was astounded at the lack of care in construction in the more popular brand.
Also have a look underneath cause you will be suprised at the difference in chassis on the market and what some manufacturers class as quality. Seen half a dozen screws through the floor that missed the chassis. Sorry rambling a bit i know but if you look really carefully you will see the careless construction.
Not only did we not want an ensuite but we also wanted bunks for the tackers, Which fore some reason no one seems to keep many of them on the lot.
For the record we brought a Retreat Morton and the mate brought the Retreat Daydream and we are more than happy to promote the vans and the guys at 7th street caravans till the cows come
home.
Cheers
JG
