Hi everyone, just thought I.d share a tip. We've arrived in USA and price-checked options for sat nav in the hire car. $99 US for basic tom tom but hard to get, usually the next model $149 or same for Garmin. But $20 buys an iPhone windscreen suction mount and $49 for tom tom app download. works exactly the same! can play ipod and navigate at same time too.
Have been putting up some
blogs on EO and TO. Race day tomorrow - 9\11. Also have tracking on so click our position to see where we are. Currently in vegas but mostly around Lake Las Vegas and Lake Mead National Park - amazing scenery and very hot and dry as a bone.

Hi Michelle,
I am also in the States but only using my iPhone on the hotel's wiFi to call
home on Skype. Can you tell me what you are doing with your phone plan? I have read that costs can get out of control especially with data roaming on.

Skull we bought a T-mobile sim card for both our iPhones but it is cheapest to go into any wallmart or best buys and buy the t-mobile phone for $20 a take the sim out!! Cut it down to size if you have iphone 4. But this is voice and text only and 100mg data. You can buy an unlimited plan but expensive - we payed $100 for 1 month!! Use wireless at hotel. Tomtom app uses nothing for navigation (but 1.4G download so use hotel wifi). We are actually much better off in Oz for our mobile/data - found that rather surprising!

Let me clarify - when you buy the unlimited plan you buy $70 but then get hit with "setup" of $35 because your not an existing tmobile customer!
