Information for travelling from Innamincka via Dig Tree to Cameron Corner

Having travelled to Innamincka Via Cordillo Downs just recently ( 6 days ago) and before that 11 years ago, can anyone out there inform me of the way some travellers we met at Cameron Corner came from Innamincka via the Dig Tree to Cameron Corner.
They did not come through Warri Warri Gate but via the road on the Cameron Store side of the dog fence.
We came from Innamincka through Merty Merty( the second time) to Cameron Corner and were not aware that one now can travel via the dig tree to Cameron Corner.
Is it a reasonably new track it was described to us as almost a highway.
Would love to be informed as we have no maps of this particular route at this stage but intend to get one asap.

To go “via” the dig tree from Innamincka means they have travelled north to Nappa Marrie. You can either cross the causeway at Innamincka and head along the western side of the Cooper on the Arrabury Road to Nappa Merrie and then into the Dig Tree. The alternative is to travel up the eastern side of the Cooper on the Adventure way to Nappa Merie and then into the Dig Tree. Then you backtrack 24 km to the Orientos Road and travel south down that through Orientos and Santos.

At Santos you can turn right and head west out to Epsilon via the Tickalara Oil field for 28km and then turn south through the Stokes Road to Omicron. At roughly 60km you hit the Naryilco-Cameron’s Corner Road and head south west to the corner.

There are a lot of gas/oil service roads out that way but it is still stony and rough over the first 90 odd kilometres once you leave the Adventure way. It’s also longer. Even the lightest rain turns the surface of the hall roads in that area to an ice like slipperiness. Not much fun to travel on.

Cheers Mick

Mary and Mick

We came to Innamincka from Camerons Corner a few weeks ago via Omricon and Epsilon and the road is great. The Shire has done a lot of work in recent months. A very good run.

Cheers

Hello Peter
CAN you explain where you went exactly form Cameron Corner into the Bullo Shire road/track .I am referring to the road that goes between the Cameron corner store and the dog fence so I guess it is a little west of the dog fence and a little East of the store with the Bulloo Shire sign on the track
I really am not sure of the way you would have gone ,is there a detailed map available of this road/track from Cameron Corner to Innamincka via the dig tree
Much appreciated for your assistance if you can give me the information please

We have been on the road from Naccundra to Tibooburra so that way we know, this particular one referred to we do not know,as we have not been able in the past to get to the dig tree due to floods etc

Hi Mary

I've copied here the relevant part of the Great Desert tracks map. You'd go up via Omricon, Epsilon and Santos.

Cheers

Peter
