When filling the 2x 60 lt water tanks under the van the water keeps spitting back out of the filler hole. Becomes almost impossible to fill after tanks are half full. Vent does not appear to be blocked as i can blow through vent hose. The 1in filler inlets are situated half way up the tanks, is this the normal location for them. Any comments or suggestions would be appreciated.
Regards peter

HI Peter
Check that the vent is hooked up right as my van was not even connected or maybe you turn on tap too fast do you open both caps at the same time I think
the tanks should be linked together
hope this helps cheers

Peter
do the tanks have an outlet/drain at the base?
if try filling from them as it lets the air escape out the fillers.

we used to do this with our first CT>
was also a quicker way of filling the tank.

I've got an 03 Galaxy Southern Cross 16'6" and have the same problems filling the tank and I use exactly the same procedure as Ed.
You just need to be careful fitting the hose as the plastic fitting is a bit fragile but filling the tank takes half the time.
Regards Andrew.

I have a Galaxy too and found it hard to fill. I used to fill the tank with the hose pressure on medium and it would blow back. So I reduced the pressure to slow and went for a walk and it filled it up no probs. Good luck.

Hi Peter,
We also had trouble filling our Coromal tanks. This problem has also been discussed on a couple of other forums. We learnt from others to feed the hose down passed the breather hole and then fill normally. Some bloke on the caravanners forum has designed a thin plastic hose and clamp that attaches to normal hole so that there is still enough room for breathing and water backing up when tanks are full, but we were concerned that if this extension came off down the filler tube that there would be a lot more trouble. We use no extra pressure, just make sure there are no kinks in tubes first.
Cheers
Sally

Same issue with Goldstream. I cut a 12" length of 1/2" clear plastic hose and fitted usual hose connectors to connect to the filling hose.
The plastic is softer and slides further down the filler tube. no problems since.
