G'day All,
Wondering if you could help me? I want to take the family on a short holiday from home (Broken Hill ) through to Mudgee but I want to camp on the Fish River near Oberon. I believe there are stock routes around that area but i don't know where i can find them. Does anyone know where I could find out?
Many thanks,
Bruce.

Bruce,

Have a look at Stock Routes NSW. It points to a $35 plus $10 postage publication : "The Long Paddock. A Directory of Travlling Stock Routes and Reserves in New South Wales. "

Don't know how current it is. The former NSW govt was pretty keen on flogging them off.

Cheers

John

Hi John
I own that publication and stock routs marked at Oberon are not easily located, I do believe there are moves for better signposting by the Anglers Access Group but I'm not sure how soon.

There is not a lot of easy access to the Fish itself, you might consider camping on the Tarana to O'Connell road further downstream or at Lake Lyell, the Central West State Forest map is really what you need. If you planning on the Long week end in October expect it to be very crowded with people from Sydneyside.

Flat rock just upstream from Oconnell is the only camping spot I know of other then private property. With a lot of city people buying up hobbie farms access is getting harder and harder.
cheers Pete
