Hi
I just wondering if it is safe to have a roof Basket/cage attached to the 4wd as
well as the canopy. Im just concerned that it might wreck the canopy with the different movements of 4wd and canopy.
Thanks in advanced
Brad

Hi Brad, D/C's can flex a bit, so it would not be a good thing to anchor the basket to both cabin roof and canopy roof. I have seen a a full length basket on a dual cab, but it was supported by bar work anchored in the tray only. They didn't have a canopy. Most canopy's have only modest on-top load capacity, which would be consumed by adding a structure to support a basket the would overhang the whole cabin. Have you considered two separate baskets up top? Cheers, AllanK

Agree with you Allan, I had a cage on my duel cab and it was supported on all 4 sides of the pod, I then had a roof rack supporting it on the cab. After the first dip the roof rack broke and went through the rail, after a lot of repairs I removed the front roof rack. The two do move in different directions. See photo

I certainly wouldnt have one rack accross the cab and canopy, the different flex between the two will not be good.
You could run a basket on just the cab or canopy as long as it is supported. You can buy internal frames that sit inside the canopy to support it.
Cheers
