Today is R U OK day!!

Please take the time to ask those around you that you care about if they are okay.
Not just family & friends, but work colleagues are also important.
It may make a bigger difference than you think!!
It also does not hurt to ask at anytime, not just today.

R U OK??

I know this is off topic, but I think its something that all Australians should be aware of and encouraged to participate in.
Depression is a bigger issue than most realise with 1 in 5 Aussies suffering from this illness.

I hope everyone who reads this is OK??

Thanks John. I'm OK and will be even better by late afternoon tomorrow as I'll be sitting around a campfire somewhere by the Darling with a bunch of good friends.

Keep smiling

Mick

Any time spent by a river is a good reliever of the stresses associated with modern life in my book. Just wish I had a bit more of it (time that is). Thanks for mentioning this very worthwhile initiative John.

Cheers Mick

John,
I know what you are talking about and I sympathise with you.

My eldest lad suffers from this and he has been on the brink of destruction many times.

The one thing that has worked for him is hypnotisim. We tried many things from psychiatrists to pills and nothing worked. My wife heard some good reports about a hypnotherapist in Brisbane and the turn around was incredible.

He is not cured but he can now handle the downs.

Hope all is bright

Mate no need to sympathise with me, those that suffer this illness or live with someone who does are the one's who are in need of understanding.

I know of people that live with the effects of depression everyday and they need help, support and understanding from the rest of us.

The R U OK? day is a positive initiative to assist with understanding of this major illness.

I hope you and your son continue to receive the support and understanding that you both need in working through the issues.

Struth, Ouyen. I lived and worked there for a few years back in the early 80"s Muz. Nice part of the world.Walpeup Lake was always good for a few redfin. Will probably drop into the Hattah-Kulkyne for a night by the river on the way home. Drive safe. See you there.

I am not ok But i will be in about a week when i can go to a nat park next to beach, put me new tent up, go for some coastal walks, fish, campfire and watch the stars and listen to the wildlife. Anyone who does feel down, get out and go for a walk (through the bush)

Thanks John...

Yes I am OK and are you OK ??? what a great day... so easy to forget to use these simple few words and what a difference it could make to someone.

I will be even better when I sell my van so that our new one can be picked up and we can get back on the road.... Have a lovely day everyone, where ever you are and what ever you are doing...

Cheers Ros.

Good topic John.

Telling someone with a mental illness to just "Get over it" is like telling a paraplegic to just get up and walk.

At the Dowerin Field Day a few years back a mate and I both did the men's health check which included your current mental stability. My mate was called a side because they had never found anybody as chilled out and relaxed as he is.

Well done John. Just rang my parents and they are fine as well.
