I helped my son-in-law fit a Tekonsha Prodigy to his Toyota Aurion a couple of weeks ago. He was told by his Toyota mechanic that the brake signal to the brake controller can NOT be taken from the brake switch (normal method) and MUST be taken from the wiring at one of the brake lights or there will be problems with one of the vehicle's comnputers.

It is relatively easy to remove the trim panels over the passenger door steps and run wiring along the inside of the vehicle. There is also a hole/gap near the top left hand end of the rear seat to get wiring into the boot.

I do not know the similarities or differences between Aurion and Avalon models, but suggest you check with your Toyota dealer.

cheers,

glids
