Recently completed a crossing of the
Simpson Desert. My HJ80 turned over 500,000km half way across. I just could not resist myself doing the Toyota Jump at the end of the trip.

We fitted a Drifter Kitchen and Storage Box to the camper Trailer x before we left and I must say I was impressed with that too. It took a pounding I showed it no mercy in getting over some of those sand hills. I am pleased to say, other then the handle on the cooker getting bent the whole thing held together.
Well done the guys at drifter.

I am now planning a trip for next year looking at Sandy Blight
Junction and around that area.

Good one Wayne
Nothing like a strong coil sprung live axle chassis , combined with an un-fussy engine.

Good jump for a "young" fellar too, Wayne!!!
Good on the 80 for a trouble free run as
well. Good advert for them, to clock up half a million, eh. We recently sold our '97 model GXL, with 345K on clock. Like losing one of the family.
Bob.

Thanks Guys.
I must say I am very happy with my
old truck.
I recently fitted a 1HDT engine / transmission from a wreck that had 380000km on the clock. The old 1HZ was still going strong at 480000km but I wanted more power for towing.
I have thought of updating to a later model 200 but I dont trust the CDI injection system. Besides on the 80 I can fix everything myself, the 200 would be a different story, too complicated for me to fiddle with.
Cheers

great stuff. Being a GQ patrol man myself I still recognise that the 80 is a great vehicle. Like all modern cars they started to get a bit too complicated for me also and love my older car.
Have a friend with an 80 and is still running bullet proof also.
