We are looking at purchasing this particular brand of Campervan for the family of 4. We are thinking of purchasing the model with their standard HiDef which is 19" $599, which I thought was a bit rich. Plenty model available on ebay for 1.2 the price. What I would like to know is could I purchase a 12v model from ebay and have an electrician install? What sort of TV should it be? a 12V model which means it can run off the battery or does it always need to be only on when on a powered site or generator?

Hi Toby. If you have a look on the Caravan Forum the concenses seems to be the Kogan brand in 12v tv are really popular. You definitely only need 12v provided you have an onboard battery. As you say, a lot of the ebay tv's are good value as well. Cheers,Bob

Toby

You don't need an electrcian to install a 12v tv in a van.

We have a 13' jayco starcraft and it has a battery under the bed and a couple of 12v outlets. It also runs of 240 when we are in a CPk.

We pack ours in the box and leave it on the floor when travelling, but only on sealed roads.

I think ours was about the $220 mark.

Toby

dont think you could go past Kogan.

they have a number of models with DVD's etc from around $200.

we have a 16" 12/240v and are more than happy with it

have a look at their web site

Cheers

Thanks people the Kogan it seems like. Now one more question, what about installing it on a swivel arm, can this be done on the van?

It can if you have the space.

I'd think about it long and hard before you started drilling.

When I ordered my 16-49-3 Expanda in 2009 the dealer needed to know whether we were going to mount a tele or not. Something to do with providing the mount area when the van is made apparently. Might be worth asking before you commit to a van and find the spot you want it in isn't strong enough.
