i would appreciate your comment on supercharging a toyota 4runner 1994 (2.8) diesel v turbo charging same. 200,000 klms towing 1300 kg caravan would it have less lag or would it preform the same or possibly better any info would be of great assistance

It should perform better... It will put a lot more stress on the engine, but 200,000 isnt much..
Supercharger has less lag and heat problems, but costs LOTS more...
Check with your insurance company though. Lots hear the word supercharger and bleep their pants.
The other options are engine swaps.. V6 Commodore motor is common and very good...

Supercharging is theoretically better because of the instant response however the downside is that blowers generally cost 2- 3 times as much to install and require more ongoing maintenance.There is about 3-4 basic types of supercharger and the lower the price the higher the maintenance.Another option is the clutchtype blower that is only engaged when you accellerate hard enough to activate it.Saves the motor and the blower.I like supercharging and believe one day it will be more common if the cost of reliable superchargers such as SPRINTEX comes down to the price of turbos.
