I know this has been mentioned before but I decided to find out the facts regarding RACV conditions in regard to towing my vehicle & trailer (c/Van) in case of
breakdown. I sent an E Mail off to the RACV about six (6) weeks ago and received a return E Mail last friday. Here are the facts & regulations concerning the RACV roadside assist policies. There are three (3) catorgories. The first is Roadside Care GVM of the vehicle to be towed is to be no greater than 2.5t. this includes load & passengers. Height no more than 2.0m Width 2.3m & Length 5.5m. The next level of care is Extra Care GVM 4.0t Width 2.3m Height 2.7m & Length 6.7m The highest level of R/side assist is Total Care GVM 4.0 2.7m Height. 2.3m Wide & 6.7m length. The length measurements are from the point of the A bar (coupling to the rear of the van. The E Mail stated that for larger dimentional vans contract towing can be arranged at the expense of the owner. I attempted to post the pdf file but was unsuccessful. If anyone would like to view same post me a PM & I'll forward it to you. From what I understand from this is,if you have a van with an inside measurement of 19' & an o/side measurement of 21' with a 4' draw bar you are not covered. Your vehicle will be towed (If broken down) & van left for contract towing at members expense or make your own arrangements. The RACV will (if you are a member) will E Mail you with all the details if so requested.

Full height caravans would be out on their own going by what you have stated.
Only pop tops (or very small vans) would come in under the heights mentioned.

This matter is supposed to be brought to a management meeting in the near future as to whether this will be remedied to allow increased sizes.
When I get a reply I will post it
