Hi all,
I was hoping some of you may be able to help me out with good locations for camping at Byron Bay. Bare camping or Tourist park is fine. We are heading down mid October for 4 days. While I am here are there any local attractions that we don't want to miss that you all may know about.
Thanks to all in advance and safe travels

Ther are some Lennox Head members who may be in a better position to comment than me (I have relatives in the area), but to me the CP at Broken Head is the pick.
Wonderful location tucked into a valley at southern end of beach, short distance (driving) into Byron. Quiet, beautiful location, walk to
the beach, no roads to cross, surrounded by a National Park.
There is a CP a few kms closer at Suffolk Park (Byron CP I think), the council one at Lennox is fine, on
the beach but 25km south of Byron.
Local attractions varies depending on your age and interests!

There is the Big 4 Caravan Park at Lennox Head which is on Lake Ainsworth. It is a safe fresh water lake coloured by tea tree. It is right beside the Lennox Head Surf Club House and
Seven Mile Beach. The Sport and
Recreation Camp is on the opposite end of the Lake. Great surfing and fishing locations are within an easy walk.
There are numerous cafes/restaurants within walking distance, about 12. A hotel is in walking distance and also has great meals, too. Quite a few shops of various types, too.
It is just 10 minutes into
Ballina or about 20 into Byron. The atmosphere is much quieter and safer than Byron Bay. Lennox Head is far more accessible than Byron Bay and does not clogged by traffic every day. Access is from the Pacific Highway down
Ross Lane.
Byron Bay is not the destination is once was as it does have some social problems which are regularly mentioned in newspapers.
There are numerous attractions that are about the same time away as would be from Byron Bay.
I live here but do not have any financial interest in any business in Lennox Head except being a regular customer at a coffee
shop.
Hope that helps.

Col and Razza,
I will second DW's comments about Lennox, but I do have a Financial interest there!
We have been going there every year for 25 years, but it is not "Byron" if that is what you are after.
