Hi All,

Just recieved this email today for a camper I have advertised on a few different sites. The first enquiry seemed honest enough but when I replied this is what came back....... It read as follows;

"thanks so much for your response.. firstly i would have loved to call you concerning this transaction but i am an Army Officer and am currently in the BASE right now so its really going to be a bit hard to call you right now but am sure we can run the transaction successfully through here. I am so keen about the transaction and i am not ready for drama's so i hope you are also in for the goody. I am sure you will have received lots of offer but am offering you $23,800 so i hope that beats other offers that you have got. I have an agent that will be coming to Pick It Up after i have completed the Payment. I will love to make the payment through PayPal or straight into your bank account as its secured and preferable, so kindly get back to me with your paypal email or bank details where you will like the funds to be credited and i can get the funds sent asap. So get back to me as soon as you can so we can move on to the next step. you can as well get back to me with more pictures if you have them. thanks."

It came from a James Curtis email was shown as; loveandtrust@blumail.org

Beware........... Screams SCAM to me.

Paul

It's a complete scam. This is a known issue for selling cars but now seems to be making it's way into caravans and boats as well.

Paul,

We have been having the same problems with our camper and our caravan. If you do an internet search of blumail.org you will find it is well and truly associated with scams. I generally get as much input as possible from them and then let them know that I know they're scammers and that I will be forwarding their emails and phone SMSs's to the relevant Australian Authority.

Funny, but we never hear from them again.

Cheers,
Di

Am currently advertising my Adventure Camper for sale and have had 4 similar enquiries. Rather than get upset about it I just ignore completely - there's never any follow up from the would be scammer - guess they play the numbers game and go fishing elsewhere. I doubt any 'relevant Australian Authority' gives a rat's backside.
Cheers

As suggested above. Just don't respond to them. Australian authorities have no jurisdiction over these guys so there's absolutely nothing they can do, other than to tell you not to respond to them.

Yep ! Not too concerned about it myself, but they must have a certain amount of success to want to keep doing it.

Just wanted to brIng it to the attention of as many people as possible.
Your right though. I emailed back to them the word SCAM in bold large letters & haven't heard back ......... Wonder why?

I listened to an interview with one of Qld's leading fraud police today. He said in this week alone they have had a 750k and 800k fraud reported. Both romance scams with older people on romance sites. Its a dangerous world out there on the Internet.

All the more reason to bring it up & make it common knowledge. So that those that don't know better can be made aware also.
I know most of us can identify a scam.......
They obviously prey on the unwary.

We had real trouble with this when selling our trailer. I contacted the relevant authorities who said they are interested to hear about all scams, mainly to keep them in the know with what's going around but there is nothing they can do about it. They also told these sorts of scams are worth over a billion dollars a year to these people, that's why they just keep trying.

They already have it if they have sent one to you.

If you sell on the internet it's usually there for all to see.............

Got an SMS in the middle of the night last night, advising me that I had won almost a million pounds in the Nokia birthday celebrations. Wanted me to email them back ........funnily enough to a blumail.org address.

I was not casting aspersions on any REGULAR here, rather that people advertising on this Trading Post have had their share of scammers replying. This site is not immune is all I was saying. The filth is everywhere.

Had a guy the other day buying a car. Seller advised him to go through broker. Deal was when broker received money they would arrange for vehicle to be delivered on 2 day trial period. If Purchaser did not like car money would be refunded.

Purchaser sent money to broker via money wire service and was told car will be delivered. Couple of days later he gets call from seller stating car engine blew up on way to Purchaser. Seller advised purchaser to contact broker and get his money back.

Guess what seller nor broker exist.

People are so gullible its unbelievable

In addition to the above scams, when recently looking for a new van we came across a rather unique van only to find it listed on 3 different websites with different locations. Turned out that only 1 listing was legit, as the original had been copied and posted on other sites with different listers and there would have been little chance of determining the real one with out getting a photo of the rego papers emailed. The actual owner was even unaware until we notified them.

Yes,

I found mine advetised elsewhere too. They just copy & paste your ad & repost on another site under someone else's name.
I contacted the site & they deleted the ad.
Since posting this I have also had a couple of texts as well. They are pretty easy to spot as they ask for a price & pics when this info is already displayed on your ad.
