Fraser Island Closures - Sandy Cape

Hi All,

We are off to Fraser Island Next month (4th Nov 2011) for a week and I would like to know if it is possible to drive to Sandy Cape in the far North?

We plan to stay a few nights at Waddy point and do a day trip from there. I have been told that there might be a salt water crossing around Ngala Rocks to get there as the inland track has been washed away.

Is this true or is there an inland track??

Appreciate any advice

Cheers

Dave

There is no inland track as such but are a couple of detours around some of the rocks. At one point you will need to follow the receding waves around at low tide. If not camping up near the Cape this means a quick run up & back to ensure you get around before high tide returns.
With very few people making the effort to go to the top it was the highlight of our trip to the Island.
Cheers Craig.........

Go here

http://www.derm.qld.gov.au/parks/fraser/index.html

and have a look at the conditions report. It should tell you what you need to know.
