Hi guys, just going through the last minute packing before departing tomorrow morning. Had the gas bottle filled today BUT- it seems to be leaking. The leak appears to be at
the neck of the bottle. The bottle is only 12 months old. So my question is- is it practicable to have it fixed and where would you go to get this done? In the meantime I will leave it outside to slowly discharge its load and take the spare away with us this week. Thanks, doc.

Get rid of it.
It would be a better result to have a new gas tight bottle.
I have a lot of respect / concerns for LPG which has led me to moving over to Shellite & Coleman fuel lights & stoves.
Cheers
Steve

Gday,
Spray or brush it with soapy water and determine where the leak is and you might be able to nip it up a bit.
Dont leave the bottle around slowly leaking.....if you going to empty it......empty it........but keep an eye on it.
I wouldnt worry about getting it repaired.......just get snother one.
Cheers

Hi OZ Doc. If you are talking about a 9kg bottle, I have found on a few occasions that when the bleed screw is screwed back in, there is ice in the thread and it does not completely close. It needs a further tighten after a short time when the ice has melted.
Cheers,
Mike

Twice I have been in camping areas/caravan parks where leaking LP gas bottles have ignited with terrible results, use the soapy water as suggested and nip it up otherwise dump it.

Thanks all- the soapy water
test confirmed the leak. Left it outside o/night and it is half empty already. Will drop into BOC on our way out of town this am and see if they can dispose of it safely. Thanks again. doc.

Take it to a servo and swap it for a swap and go. They
test them before refilling. Cheaper than buying a new one.
