Hi guys,
Has anyone been here in the last month or so? Looking to do the
Hyden -
Coolgardie section.
Apologies if there is up to date information already posted. Couldn't find any recent
forum threads and last update on the track conditions page is from 1/08. I know it's been a wet winter and that the track can get pretty waterlogged...
Thanks in advance,
Tristan

Hi Tristan,
Seems like so long ago now, however as Phil said I have done it recently. I Left
Coolgardie Saturday morning and reached
Broomehill yesterday morning early. I would have made it to
Broomehill Sunday night however wanted to
camp with a fire so stopped a few kilometres early.
There are quite a few areas where there is water on the track getting worse the more south you go. There was no water south of the
Hyden Norseman Road.
You could see areas where in times past people had been very stuck and had carved great trenches. The track is not that bad at this time.
I did not get even close to bogging though "chicken tracks" were available and I used most of them, no point getting the Ute unnecessarily muddy. The mud holes I did drive through were firm underneath.
The very last
mud hole there was group, and a NISSAN PATROL with a camper trailer was bogged, however he was towing a camper trailer. I just drove on the "chicken track", no worries.
Note: Use of the cliche` "chicken track" in no way implies that I am a chicken by using them. I use it as a descriptive phrase only for ease of interpretation lol...
Cheers
Alan

Hi Tristan.
I to am keen to do the
Holland Track but was worried to do it solo with all the rain there has been lately. If you were also going solo maybe we could hook up and travel together next week.
I will also be at the Kulin Races this weekend so maybe we can discuss it some more there. What sought of rig do you have so I can pick you out of the crowd.
Regards Peter

Hi Peter,
See note below from Rusty - might need to get some more information from the councils.
I have been called away by work for a few days, so might not be able to make it out to Kulin in Saturday. Keep an eye out for a red Jeep Wrangler with a silver camper trailer (red canvas). Will hopefully see you there!
Cheers,
Tristan

On the news today they said the
Holland track was closed due to rain on Monday with more storms expected later this week.
I suggest ring up
Coolgardie or
Hyden Shire councils to confirm.
I have been told by others not to attempt it especially on your own when wet as it just becomes far too boggy.
We have done it in the dry and there were a few really deep puddles that we drove around. Personally - now is not the right time with the recent rains.
Hope it helps

Hi guys,
Any update on this? I hear there has been further rain in the area over the last few days. We had planned to do the track on the coming long wknd although there's no point heading down if its going to be closed!
Cheers

Hi Silver Lux,
We are also planning on doing the Holland on the coming LWE, think we are just gonna head there and see, maybe a deviation to the woodline tracks should the Holland be a no go. They have had alot of rain over the weekend and I see the LWE is also going to be a bit drizzly, should make for some adventure!.

Thanks WorkHorse,
I spoke with
Hyden and
Coolgardie shires earlier in the week- at that stage
Hyden was saying it was still open although
Coolgardie advised it was closed. They said to call back on Wednesday or Thursday for an update although given there has been more rain in the area, I'm not hopeful of it being opened for the LWE. Looks like the woodlines could be a go!
