I've done a search and while there is plenty of suggestions on brands, there is not much discussion of whether people have experienced damage to vans from a cover rubbing.
So just wondering - is this common or is it specific to a particular type of material used in covers ??
Thanks for any advice.

G'day deserter
I am not sure if my answer will mean a great deal in regards to your question, but I used a top of the range caravan cover to try and protect the van from the elements.
Sadly the cover held the dirt/dust in the fabric and when it eventually rained, the dirt/dust ~ with water included ~ scoured the paint and aluminium trim edges. Maybe it was purely the high iron content of the dust, but in a town like
Newman in the
Pilbara, you simply can't get away from the air borne iron.
Safe travels :

We have had a Prestige brand (I think from memory) which we purchased from BigW for five years.
The van sits out in the open with it on.
The cover has four layers of material, the top being the weather proof stuff and the bottom layer (next to the van) is a soft padding.
This year I have had to patch a couple of spots where the UV has weakened it. A roll of repair material is provided with the cover.
I expect to get at least another two years out of it.
I am so happy with it that we also purchased a car cover of the same brand.

Thanks for those replies.
It would seem from the lack of responses that caravan damage from covers is rare. I will go ahead and purchase one.
