Hi. All.
What is the best way to set up this system, including the location of the pull up brackets on the A frame, as I have just re shaped one of the pull up brackets by doing a tight U turn.

Hello H,
Well when we purchased ours a few years ago Hayman Reese supplied a very clear & simple to follow set up procedure, so we had no problems.
Did you buy it new? If so, go back to your retailer & ask for some advise/instructions.
If the WDH came with a pre loved van & you do not have the above mentioned instructional leaflet then I would suggest you contact HR, maybe google them for contact info, & they will be more than happy to help you, as I think most reputable tow bar fitting
places would be.
Good on you for having one anyway, they are a great safety device & in my opinion should be a lawful requirement for all vanners regardless of the size of van or tow vehicle.
Good luck & happy travelling.

One of the first instructions should be "Don't do tight U-turns with the hitch fitted!"
I always disconnect
mine before entering a caravan park and don't re-connect until out in the street for just this reason.

Hi Neil,
I hear what you say but we do not have the problem you mentioned. It's a while back since I set ours up but seem to remember that this potential problem was addressed in the set up procedure & think it was related to leaving sufficient chain links?
It's a bit late for me to go
check out our set up manual now, but we have never had to disconnect prior to
parking our van & always hook up the WDH prior to pulling off the park site.
Maybe worth asking the question of HR or an authorised installer of the system to get rid of any concerns or problems you may have. Cheers

Always leave at least 4 links and preferably 5 links free.
Why Because the bars move back and forward in turns and I have actually seen broken bars from not leaving enough and it has snapped.
HR also recommend you dont reverse over gutters etc when they are fitted.
I only did it once Never again nearly had serious problems when the bars dug into the face of the gutter.
If you need to adjust them to get the required number of links you just remove the top bolt and turn the cam around to push the towball back or forward depending on what you want.
It does NOT have to be vertical.
The instructions tell you how to get the hitch at the correct height for the van to be level.
