I was just starting a new blog for North Stradbroke Island and have come up with a problem.
When uploading a picture all appears to be working correctly until previewed. The correct caption is there but attached to a picture used in the previous blog.

I have tried:
* Closing Exploroz to refresh things and starti again
* Closing the picture file and reopening

However, no luck!

Does anyone have an idea that may solve the problem?
Rob

Rob Hi,
All the boxes (field's) must be ticked. Could this be the problem.

Hi Rob

This has happened to me in the past, but not recently. To overcome the issue, I would refresh the page and all appeared to be OK. I did however contact David and he seemed to have fixed the issue.

The only problem that I am still having is editing the wording or caption for an image. The changes will be surface only and appear OK, but when you save the changes and then go back into see if the changes have taken place, it reverts back to what it was before the changes were made. I now find that the only way to make changes that will stay, and takes a lot more time, is to go in, remove the image that has wording problems and them reinsert it with the correct title or other information.

I know that this problem is not just restricted to me, as I have been in contact with another member who also experiences the very same issue when trying to alter the wording on photos in Blogs.

It looks like the gremlins are still lurking deep inside the system and will raise their nasty little heads given the right opportunity. Another one for David to loose more hair over.

Cheers

G'day there Rob, trust the trravels are progressing nicely.

This problem is a caching issue at the EO end. I contacted David over it quite a few months ago. I will try and dig out his response. I thought he had overcome it but it did happen to me again the other day.

The way to overcome it is to "Submit" the blog once the photos are loaded. Then open it using the "edit" tab and move the pictures around that way. Once saved, the photos should cache correctly and appear in the blog as loaded.

Cheers Mick

Hi Rob,

Haven't encountered this particular problem but there still seem to be some gremlins in the photo captioning department.

If you hover over our signature photo you will see that it has a caption that does not fit the photo - it belongs to a photo that we used a couple of years ago. Reloading a new photo does not help - the old caption is determined to stay.

I brought this to Davids attention some time ago when he was doing the big update of the blog photos (which resulted in some great improvements) but this particular issue is still there - and I think you will see the same problem for a few other members who have changed their signature photos (avatars?).

Like Stephen has pointed out I thought that the ability to edit captions was wonderful, until I realised that any changes made aren't being saved.

When loading a blog I always hit submit as soon as the text is loaded (and all the necessary boxes checked), then go back into edit to load photos, put in paragraph break etc. I then re submit after I have put in a few photos - I dont wait until all photos are in. That way if the system has a problem I don't have to start from scratch.

Cheers,

Val.

Mike, Stephen, Mick O and John & Val, Thanks for your responses.
Mike...
Only the name field is mandatory and I always fill this in. Also, I tick the appropriate box so I dont think this is the problem.
Stephen ...
Yes, editing the caption does not work. If I want to change the caption I take the long way around ... delete the picture, reload the picture and enter the correct caption.
Mick O ...
We are home in Sydney!
You have definitely hit the nail on the head. We will have to get David back from holidays and get him down to work but he probably does not want to hear about work just yet.
I finally finished my North Stradbroke Island blog following your lead.
* I sometimes get pictures that load but then the captions box does not load.
* Sometimes a picture comes up with an error message stating that is unable to load. It is usually the picture/s I really want.
John & Val ...
Yes, continually submitting saves losing all.
And the signature pictures ... I still have one that says 'Ted's Beach, WA (should be Tasmania'

I'm sure all will be resolved soon,
Rob
