hi crew,
i have a 22 ft golf family van and plan to take the missus and two young boyz on a working holiday around oz. starting from sw.wa. Would like some feed back about the best 4*4 for the job. I have a 30 grand budget and was thinking a 80 series cruiser. Fuel consumption is the main issue. would like super charged 4.5 or turbo diesel? Any info would be great. CHEERS.

Best idea is to go through the many threads on this site. Discover for yourself a vast amount of info about your vehicle, cravan, trip, route, essentials etc.etc.
Get the family involved in reading these threads.
cheers and enjoy your trip

Hi Reevo

That is a big van with room to pack in a big load, which you will no doubt do with your boys. Make sure the vehicle you pick is rated to tow the fully laden caravan and what you put into the vehicle including yourselves. The best vehicle for you is one that can legally take the weight (with a bit of leeway as a margin for error). You need to work out the weights first. Resign yourself to the fact that towing a heavy load chews through the fuel, what ever vehicle you choose.

Thanks Motherhen,
We are about to load the van up for a week down south.I am going to guess between 2.5 / 3 tonne fully loaded. I will take her down to the way bridge and see what she goes. Will let you know what she weighs.
Thanks,Reevo.
