We'd like to spend a few days in the Hunter Valley to "test" out some of their wines and I'm struggling to find a suitable caravan park reading the reviews from the Badgers website. Although we'd like to free camp we normally wouldn't leave the van alone while we went off, so a caravan park will need to be the go this time.

Does anyone have any suggestions as to where to stay? If we have to drive a bit to the wineries if there's nothing suitable in the heart of the district that's ok.

hi chocoholic,
we live in the maitland area and go to the vineyards on some weekends. We free camp at McNamara park at Broke and have never had a problem. Top Spot.
Page 120 in camps 5 and the coordinates are ...32 44 52s.....151 06 01.
cheers ,
Geoff.

Van park straight across the road from Cessnock golf course, popular with people like you..

Broke is an excellent place to go, and when I lived out there - no crime. I'm not saying it's like that now but hey, it's a beautiful area to be and you'd be opposite the shop which is the hub of the community.

If not, try Nulkaba caravan park, or Mt View caravan park around Cessnock.. they are probably the best of the ones there that I remember (though again it was a long time ago).

Thank you for your responses. Have decided to take a look at the free camping at Broke, and if no good, off to the caravan park by the golf course, then wineries, here we come! (hiccup!!)

Thanks again.

When are you thinking of coming?
I am a local and drive for a local coach company. Just remember there are concerts in the vineyards every Saturday night, plus 2 sundays, for the next 7 or 8 weeks in a row. Some are huge, and heavily booked, so C/Parks as well as free camping at Broke will be very busy.
If you want you can ring me or vice versa for further info.

Cheers from Fred.
