Howdy all,
Looking for some
places to go exploring, 4wding around the
Broome area.
Not interested in the Barred
creek,
Quondong,
Willie Creek area though.
Have done that area, looking for options out towards
Derby or Hedland.
Maybe around the Fitzroy, Logue rivers?
There doesnt seem to be anywhere around here that is a challenge or remotely interesting. Tired of beach driving.
Anyone have any suggestions?
Cheers

You're on the doorstep of some great desert country. Just depends on how game you are and what you want to see. Equinox has also done a recent trip out that way and spent a bit of time exploring the northern edges of the GSD closer to the Great Northern.
The McLarty HillsFolling the old cut lines & a bit of rain
Cheers Mick

Yes, I would second the great desert country that you can access from up north. If you have enough time you get yourself into some magical gorges, billabongs etc.
Would you consider going as far as
Marble Bar, or Ruddall River NP? Desert Queen Baths is absolutely incredible and although still a big excursions for you, is much more realistic a destination than for more the majority of Australia's living over East, or even in
Perth - you're more than half way there and its right up there in the top 10 of
all places I've been in Australia. there's more there than first meets the eye and best of all is located in the northern section of the NP so is easily accessible from Telfer.
May I suggest you open up
Places on this site - and zoom into the map - simply hold down the SHIFT button on the keyboard whilst you drag your mouse across the map - this draws a box which when you release your mouse, will zoom the map to just show that area..... then click the FEATURES tab above the map, this will give you the ability to turn off attributes on the map so you simplify what you are viewing - suggest leave on just Camps and then turn on Treks/User Treks. This will show you some great spots you can explore - just use your mouse to pan around the map (ie. point and drag) or click any active spot to open a window with details of what's there. You can click away to remove the window, or use the prompt (open place or open trek) to go to the relevant page with more info.
That's just one way of using the wealth of info that's here on the site. Hope it helps?
