After a good run across the
Anne Beadell Highway we had Sunday in
Laverton as a rest day. Monday comes and we load up and head along the
Great Central Road. About 30 kms in and the engine develops a missfire which causes it to lose power and run on only five cylinders out of six. This is a bit of a concern considering we were headed to a remote area so we decide the best thing is to drive slowly back to
Laverton and get the local mechanic to try and sort it out.
After a bit of a look at things we decide to replace all plugs and leads and rotor. No parts here though so now we are waiting for them to arrive (1 or 2 days) and hoping that this will get us on the road again.
Needless to say that this is a bit of a downer after getting off to a great start. Could be alot worse though so we will sit tight and wait.
Cheers, Wooly

Hi Terrafirma,
yes its our 80 series 96 4.5lt pet/auto. Was running but only on 5. New plugs and leads sorted it out. Seems to be back to its good old self now. Parts arrived from
Perth today. Had a lot of help from Henry and the guys at Goldfields Four Wheel Drive in
Laverton.
We stayed in the local caravan
park for a few days which is a pretty good one with good facilities and the pub is '
The Desert Inn' which has lots of character about it and does meals every day.
Since the car is crook but the fridge is still going
well, we have been practising happy hour to keep cool. lol
Looking forward to having another go at the
Great Central Road tommorow
Cheers,Wooly

Hi , good to see that you managed to get away on your trip again after a hiccup . When i was using petrol motors I always had spare plugs , points and leads in the vehicle all the time . Of course 30 to 50 years ago motors were nowhere as reliable as they are today . i hope you have a enjoyable trip from now on .

That's bad luck Wooly but ya know so often these things end up being blessings in disguise. You were clearly lucky you could get back to a "town". I know
Laverton is a bit remote too, but open your eyes and hearts and you never know what fate has in mind for you. Our best moments on trips are always the unexpected! HOpe it is for you too. Keep us informed and best of luck getting the truck up and running again.
