Wet Season is off to a ROARING start .....

Well it looks like the wet has come early, there are reports of minor flooding around and north of Cairns with rivers rising, we have had the Savannah way closed on Friday night for 24h due to rain so brace your selfs for the wet, here it is ..........

Yes - Power has been out and 79mm since 61m this morning and still it falls :-)

We had a wet October last year, so could be a sign of things to come :-( It is a bit wet at my place 5 meters last year, 4Mtrs so far this year

we hve had about 4 inches in the last 2 weeks, heaps of storms and humid as all hell ......... either it is going to be a big one or it is gunna be a early fizzer, talk is that it will be an early one but not big and finish early, be nice to be able to get freight in all year round ..............

so the rain comes early and hard, lake Eildon is over flowing.and we have a carbon tax to stop global warming[sorry its now climate change arter the big floods over the last two years,cant say global warming any more]thank god for the greens they are saving us all .anyway thats my winge for the day,cheers warren

yes just had a look - there had been over 100mm for the month by this time last year

and 5 mm so far for the month this year so i wouldnt go buying snorkals and flippers just yet

Met Bureau said this morning that this is not the start of the wet season.
The monsoonal trough is still in the Northern Hemisphere & this is the result of a high pressure system to the south of Cairns sending moist air onto the ranges. The high is also the reason for the strong winds warning & why nobody is going fishing.
I am no weather expert & I just hope I repeated that correctly.

Well I certainly got some of that wrong. Just had a look at the BOM site.
The high is definitely south of Cairns. It's that far South it is off the coast of NSW

yes the BOM has a lot to say but i just know it is early ........... we can see lightining from 100klms away tonight, the humidity is 100% ....it is sooooooooooooooooooo green .......... we can feel the rain now ....
