Hi all:

I am wanting to buy some Porta Drawers. These are a stacked plastic drawer system with a fabric surround that keeps them together, and would be very beneficial on future trips.

I am aware that Outback Campers have them, feature them on their website, but several emails to them seeking information have gone unanswered. One wonders why they even have an email address if they don't look at it.

If anyone can point me in the direction of a supplier other than this mob, I'd be grateful.

Google has not yeilded any results on this one.

Thanks.
Jack

hey jack, we bought our porta drawers from bunnings. They dont have a fabric surround but they stack on top of each other, and you can have as many as you want and different size pull out drawers. Way better than plain tubs.

The above pic which may help.

I have some drawers as well, which I bought from Howards, but the advantage of the Porta Drawers is that it is in a canvas or vinyl sort of cover and you can close the front off so that they don't accidentally open.

They are the same ones that Bunnings sell, about $28 each. They are made by Oates as I recall, can't help with the canvas cover though

OBJ, what about our old mate Klaus at Infront? Send him some measurements and see what sort of cost it will be. I suppose having them custom made by him would allow you to get a three or four drawer unit made (from memory the porta drawers only come in double or triple size).

I'd recommend getting him to use a heavy weight zip and make sure it's a double opener ie;- two zips from bottom centre opening outwards and then up. Much easier to get into than a single zip.

Cheers Mick.

P.S. How's the new battery system going? I'm yet to see you wade confidently into a DC/solar/battery charger debate lol.

I can't believe this Outback mob. Three emails and no response. Some people succeed in spite of themselves.

Klaus is an option if I do no good with this enquiry.

Battery system is working well. Heading u0p thre coast next week for a few days, so I will have a chance to work it a little harder this time. Still to get the solar panels, but will wait until I get back now.

Also checking out the chargers at Jaycar. Might also be an option.

Happy birthday for the other day as well.

Jack, not sure why Outback is not responding, perhaps their server is down??

Normally they are very responsive and have fantastic customer service. Why don't you just call them? You order would probably be on the way by now of you did that.
