Dunno if it is an early wet, but it has barely stopped raining here in the last 30 or so hrs, and more predicted at least until the weekend.

We want to pack up and head south, but it's too wet.....!

Cheers....Browny

It's definitely not the start of the wet season Browney, though it feels like it.
The monsoon trough is still in the Northern Hemisphere.
This is being caused by a high pressure system & a ridge ( as quoted by the met bureau)
Things could be worse than being on holidays & having to put up with rain.
Talking to a mate today. He's a cane farmer & lost 50% of this years crop because of the last wet season.
He ploughed out a heap of stand over cane this year because of water damage & replanted. That is all underwater today & will now die.
He was looking at a good watermelon crop this year. He layed 5 km of drip irrigation & planted it out. It was looking like his biggest crop yet until the river covered it last night.
160 tonne watermelon crop worth $160,000 gone.
He also had just finished fertilizing.
That's 40 or $50,000 worth of fertilizer washed away as well.
Hammered 2 years in a row.
Who'd be a farmer?

Feel sorry for your mate. Wouldnt be a farmer for quids. It does highlight another issue though. Say $50,000 of fertilizer straight into the river and out into the ocean. Mutiply this buy hundreds of farms and the amount going into the sea must be staggering. The good top soil is also washed away. Be a farmer...not on your life!!
Enjoy the wet!

Cheers Fatso,

Yeah I'm hearing you in relation to your mate, insignificant issue for us in comparison.

Still raining

sitting at punsand bay on the cape, not a drop of rain here, just very windy and very very dusty, I think the cape season is over as only 2 campers here and 1 at loyalty beach

Edwin,

Yeah she was very quite when we were there a week ago, I hope you don't get any of this rain mate, it will make the trip home very different!
