Has anyone bought a tent on Ebay from a site in
Melbourne with the seller calling himself THKNOFFROAD? The tent is on Ebay as - ROOF TOP TENT WITH ANEXE PRADO #320759813557.
I have asked him a question and the answer is not the one to the asked question. Just checking!
Regards
Longtooth

was looking at roof top tents about 2 months ago and do remember seeing that one, i think it was cheaper than the rest, i ended up buying an expensive one that is from Nt QLD and is was worth every cent about $1399 compaired to $700 bucks for the other, my theroy is you are on hols and if like me VERY time limited so i do not want anything to go wrong as it destroys any holidays ...
I also was not to sure the cheaper one was even legit at all.
Cheers
Joe

Yes, however most of his site is for small mechanical components. He has had a couple of tents but I was looking for personal experience. Thanks for the reply.

Thanks to all for the replies. Due to cost constraints do not want to spend too much. Already looked at the James Baroud and love it - however unable to justify the cost.

Hi Longtooth,
I have to agree, a high quality tent is the way to go.
There is probably a reason why some companies do not want to have their company or brand name related with the products they are selling ;-) But a good tent avoids a lot of problems along the way.
I am personally not a big fan of hard shell roof tents as they occupy the whole of your car roof and they all seem to have pretty small windows.
There are a few really good brands out there. I got
mine from a local Queensland tent Manufacturer called Gordigear. Was a good deal and quality and service is great.

My tent package (sorry not my car)
good luck and enjoy your new toy ;-)

Hi,
Interesting thread. Been looking into buying a roof topper for quite a while now too and done lots of research.
Looked into the Sahara ones and turned out they aren't made in South Africa at all but in China. Also the guy changes trading names frequently, so something seems fishy. Check out another thread on this
forum:

So I'll definitely stay clear of that one!
Also had a close look at the James Baroud and Autohome brands during recent
camping shows. Price aside, I don't think they're built for Aussie conditions. The windows are way too small for proper air circulation during summer. I think they are more for the European market.
Haven't made my choice yet, but thought I share my experience so far.
Good luck!
