Thinking about buying a porta potti but would like to know if anyone has some ideas of a stand we could sit it on to make it a bit higher. Preferable a foldup one.
I live in
Melbourne so you might be able to tell me where to buy the porta potti for a good price.
Look forward to your replies.
Julie

After John's first round of hip surgery we had the problem of raising a porta potti. The best solution we found was to get one of those Italian plastic steps in the larger size. We found it in Camec, where we also found the best range of portable
toilets. Some are higher than others. The potti sat on that step safely at the right height and it was very stable. The step was light and easy to pack - it could just travel with our other step. Not all the steps available were found to be as wide and stable for the purpose as the Italian brand. As you can imagine we had an entertaining time trying out various ideas in Camec!
In the end we bought a van with an ensuite but the potti did
well for quite a while. Lynne

I made one of these stands, it works great and flat-packs. You can also make it to whatever size you want to suit your "potty" lol... I will se if I still have the plans, if so, Ill post them here.

Have a look at a Thetford 365 - quite high so no stand needed and also has a larger capacity - downside is it takes up more space.
Cheers

If you buy a porta dunny with the larger storage compartment (the bit you fill ;-))) then they are typically at the right height even if users have crook hips and knees.
The ones with a 10 litre base are usually too low.

Hi Julie,
We have purchased a Thetford 365 in the last few months and as has been mentioned above there is no need for a stand unless you are very tall.
We purchased from a retailer in Qld called Tentworld and they were much
cheaper than Camec. From memory we paid about $ 179 as opposed to $250 quoted elseware.
They are readily available on ebay.
