Sat Phones Again

I know the subject has been done to death but can anyone tell me if an old fashioned digital ( GSM ) mobile phone SIM card will work in a Iridium Satphone or do you specifically need a SIM from a Next G, 3, 4 or whatever G we are up to phone.
Thank you to anyone who can help me as I have access to a phone to purchase but my "old fashioned SIM" will not work in it
Thanks
Murray

Can't answer your post directly sorry Murray (despite having the new Motorola sat phone). This thread may be of interest to you.

The GSM sim will work in your Motorola satphone on the Iridium network, provided that your GSM sim connects you to:
. a post-paid account on the Telstra network
. and that you have International Roaming activated.
