My brother is on the road full time and is currently in NSW for about 6 weeks, then off to Tas. His 07 model 200 Sahara is registered in WA. Would anyone have had their 200 series upgraded in NSW recently. We have been told by a Lovells "agent" that the engineer has to send the paperwork to the appropriate Govt. department in Canberra. Waiting on conformation from Lovells them selves on this. One of either ARB or TJM(can't remember which) will do it but only up to 250kg. Lovells is 350kg. If you have had it done what weight did you go up too? Thanks in advance. Bob

G'day Bob. I have a 200 series that had a lovells GVM upgrade prior to registration. Went from 3300kg GVM to 3800kg GVM or a 500kg increase. ARB done prior to rego goes to 3580kg or a 280kg increase. Perhaps these companies are not willing to give the full increase to a 4 year old vehicle with its associated wear and tear.
Good Luck. Timnivo.

Hullo Toyocrusa

Why not call Lovells direct? I had a GVM upgrade completed on our 200 GXL to 3800kg when the vehicle had 46,00km on the clock. It has now completed about 100,000km.

I am very happy with the result, although it costs a bit of money. I expect to keep the Cruiser till say 300,000km.

I also had a towing capacity upgrade to 3850kg completed by a separate organisation.

Regards, Jack

Hi Bob,
I had a Lovell's upgrade done on my 2008 Sahara six weeks ago by Brake Pro in Parramatta. Didn't have to go back to Canberra but did need an Engineers Certificate, supplied by Lovell's, and Blue Slip then simple matter of taking paperwork to the loval motor registry and having it updated to 3800kg GVM. Not sure how you stans with WA registration.

Ron Millard

Thanks for your replies guys. Had contact from the Lovells Rep today. He said that because the vehicle is WA registered it must be done over there. The other way is to transfer the rego to NSW and then have the GVM upgrade done. (a costly way to go about it though) If it was re-registered in WA at any time in the future it would still have to have an engineer certification done in that state first before registering so at present it may be in the too hard basket. My brother may head back to WA next year and try to have it done then. Cheers,Bob

Toyocrusa,

GVM is always a tricky one as you have found our.

GVM upgrade on a new vehicle prior to any registration is under the Federal Government to comply with NCOP and ADR, This is recognised everywhere (all states and Territories)

A post registration (2nd hand vehicle or already registered) GVM upgrade is State based, done in the state of registration and certified by a State endorsed Engineer, change your state and the vehicle will need to be re-engineered...
