Darling River Run - Wilcannia to Bourke

I have had a change of travel plans due to need for urgent medical treatment for my travelling companion. Rather than being able to head for the Flinders Ranges and Maree we will only have time to go as far as Wilcannia, Bourke etc.

I have found that there is camping at Wilga, east of Wilcannia and am thinking of heading up the west side of the Darling to Tilpa and Louth. Can anyone advise re road conditions and good camp sites. I am a keen photographer and would like to camp where the pics are, early morning and late afternoon.

On the way home from Bourke I am thinking of camping in the Gundabooka National Park.

Any advice will be appreciated

Hi
We did the darling and murray last winter. On the Darling stretch i highly reccomend Tilpa. There is a working Farm on the western side opposite the town/pub. They have all the shower/laundry facilities set up for the shearers and only carged us 10$ a night to set up the tent right on the rivers edge, throw a line in over night and ask at the pub for live yabbies for bait. The cod love them. Very pretty spot so you will get in some great photos.
