This is my first post to introduce myself Luke and my wife Nicole. We are long time readers of this forum and thought it was about time to participate. We have been travelling OZ for 2.5 years in our 80 series diesel with our 9 year old staffy. We are 28 and 31 and left from Brisbane with a Jayco finch poptop with 10 foot Polycraft and 18hp Tohatsu. After 12 months we sold the van and boat as we love our remote area 4wding and tackling all the tough tracks and it was restricting us too much. We did 6 months in a tent and then put an ARB awning and Eezi-Awn roof top tent up top and have spent the last 12 months with this set up which we love. We have spent 30k on the 80 series and it has everything that opens and shuts and is my baby. I figure if it is our home I want to make life as easy and comfortable as possible and it has been a great truck. We have done the Flinders (including echo camp back track and skytreck), the Gawlers, three times through the centre, the Cape, 4 months on the Eyre and Yorke Peninsula's, the Tanami, the strezleki, tho Oodnadatta, the Anne Beadell, Googs track, the Gibb river, all around the coastline, Kalumburu Rd etc. and have picked up work all over the country. I am a welder and Nicole a nurse. We are currently in Esperance and I'm really excited about exploring the amazing coastline around here. Being a fanatical fisherman I can't wait to wet a line. Anyway hello to everyone and thanks for all the great info over the last few years. I look forward to participating a little more in the future. Luke.

Welcome. Mick.

hey really good to hear from you guys, would love to read about your "work" times and how you did it, many people post on here about doing the same as you have done but dont have a clue on how to approch the work side of it and it is very important to get that part right as it makes or breaks it........ some of us would love to just throw it all to the wind but simply cant afford to but REALLY want to travel so anything you can share on the work side of things would be fantastic, mind you some may also be like me and could not go for to long without working at something at least as it would start to get boring ...
Cheers and looking forward to future posts..

Howdy Luke, and welcome!
Sounds like you two are "living the dream"! (mine anyways) :)

Love to see some pics of your rig and places you have been!

Living the dream

GO hard guy's and keep going.
We just head off somewhere, every year, and a big trip every other year.
4 1/2 years from retirement, and getting all the hard tracks out of the way while we are still fit enuf to do the camper trailer and desert thing.
When we have trouble with setting up, will sell the camper, and get a caravan, and it's not that far away.
The creaks (not creeks) and arthritis are starting to catch up, probably from a mispent youth, but would not change anything I did.

Cheers, and keep going
Bucky
