This is a fantastic idea and I urge everyone to get behind it. It's probably the best way to let our boys and girls (and dogs!) know we're thinking of them and are with them 100%. They're doing a fantastic job and it makes you proud to be an Aussie. A small outlay and a bit of time at our end would make a huge difference to their Xmas....It's the very least we can do.............

Two thumbs up!!

What sort of things do the guys and girls really appreciate? Any ideas would be good. Is there any certain packaging requirements? e.g. box or bag only etc?

You can use any packaging, provided it stays under the 2kg, to get your free post. I think the BM box is the standard used.

Really, anything you send will be appreciated, they normally have internet, so can get the news etc. Things like lollies always go down a treat, snakes, jubes etc. Or the other good one are Boxes of Shapes (you can normally get a couple of boxes and a bag of lollies under the 2kg).

The more expensive items like car, 4wd and bike mags are also good. Often they already get these but not all sorts

Hi Everyone!
The defence force personel would really appreciate this, here is some of the things that we sent our son, hope this helps. Wrapped lollies as they can put them in their pockets and they don't get sticky, tic tacs as they are in a small container so once again fit in their pockets, magazines,we sent food but that was only so he could jazz his ration packs, tinned tomatoes etc, they all like beef jerky and if the person who gets it doesn't they will trade it for something they do like. That goes for everything they get so don't worry about whether they will like it or not. Any food as that just adds to their variety, as the guys right out on the front have to live on ration packs a fair bit especially if they are away from their base for a while and dried food gets boring and bland after awhile. Hope this helps. They do a fantastic job and their families also do a great jov

Careful when sending lollies made with gelatin. (Snakes, jelly babies, jubes, etc) Have a look at the ingrediants on the back of the packet. Most will tell you if the gelatin was made from beef or pork.
