Went to the local theatre last night and saw the delightful film "Red Dog". Set in the 70's and filmed around Damper WA it depicts the some what true account of a remarkable dog that befriended the workers of Hammersley Iron and hitched rides around the
Pilbara. Often a little "corny" at times but it had humour as
well as sadness and as I said a very enjoyable theme.. Best for me though was the fact that it brought memories back about the 4 times in the last 10 years that we have ventured through that area of Australia..... those fantastic reds and the "chocolate iced" rolling hills and the beautiful blue seas of the
Pilbara. I'll have to go back again. Definitely worth seeing the film.

One thing about Red Dog is that it is not far from the truth.
Great movie.

Yep - great movie and even better that we saw it on an "international" plane flight. We were pleased to see a whole dedicated section for Australian films on the inflight entertainment system with about 10 great movies - interesting/pleasing that most of these depict outback stories too! Keep it coming Film Australia!

Take it from one who remembers the Red Dog
well there was a fair bit of poetic licence in both the book and the film. I remember him as being a bit of a snappy so and so, the kids were always being warned about touching him. Funny how thinks become larger than life the more the years progress.
The film has definately put is on the map for more than just our resources though!

It is now in the top ten Australian produced films and it was great, we saw it while on a visit to
Perth recently.

Great little movie. I've heard that box office takings have now exceeded the takings for "The Castle". Check out the hilarious screen test for Koko who stars as Red Dog. It's
here.
There are really two starring roles in the film - Red Dog and the
Pilbara scenery.
Cheers

I've only just seen the movie myself and yes I really enjoyed it. The lads in there stubbies and singlets at work cracked me up hell if you even roll your sleeves up half a turn at work these days they try to march you off site. Great movie Australia keep them coming.
