Was thru the Brisbane Ranges and Steiglitz yesterday and all the tracks are closed with a sign saying Management vehicles or walkers only.

Does any one know if they are open during the drier months? Like the Gramps/High Country/Otways etc?

Thanx

Hi Bonz. I think a lot of tracks in that area have not been fixed since last summer's very wet weather. Probably not much money available. The Government is broke!

Just realised that my comment was about the wrong ranges in a different state. I don't know if the Victorian government is broke or not. Sorry for any confusion. I should have known about the Victorian version of Brisbane Ranges. I lived in Vic for long enough. Interestingly we have a Steiglitz here too but it is a location on the water ways north of the Gold Coast.
Now I'll go back to sleep.

Every time I have ventured up there they have always been closed. Don't think they want to many 4x4's there.

I think that you will find that the park is now orientated to walkers and all the tracks are closed as you found. There are only the main roads open to 4wd's and most of the old camp sites are walker only. Bore Gully is the only one that I know that is car camping. You can also get to most of the picnic spots by car. The reason for the track closures is the cinnamon fungus.

Since I live in the area I can speak from local knowledge. Most of the park tracks are closed to public vehicles all year round. Some of the minor roads are closed during winter as well. Car based camping is available at Boar Gully and Fridays (Fridays is a recent upgrade from a picnic area only), but you need to book. Park info is here. Campsite bookings can be made online here. Some walking tracks are still closed due to flood damage and debris.
