Hi folks, a short report on the Haunted Stream track.
It is currently not possible to drive the full length of Haunted Stream Track as a massive tree has fallen blocking the track a couple of crossing from the bottom of Turntable Track, heading back towards the Great Alpine Hwy. Another group told us of the blockage and with a few capable blokes with decent size saws we continued on to have a look to see if we could open it up. The tree is about 8 feet thick and partly shattered by the fall. A job for a dozer and really serious chainsaws.
Other tracks were pretty tough as it was very wet up there. Dawson city track to Engineers Rd was only climbed by the first vehicle in the group which had a rear locker. The rest worked very hard getting up Boomerang Spur Track with one staked tyre and 4 dinted rims causing the tyres to deflate. Due to the late hour one had to be left on the side of the track overnight. The rescue party were unable to get up Boomerand Spur the following day after further rain and had to come out on the northern section of Dawson City track.
If traveling from the highway into Haunted Stream be careful of a landslip which has seriously undermined the track not far past the last private property gate. After the rain it may have made the track impassable if it has collapsed further.

Wow, interesting post Ken.

How overgrown is it at the moment?

Sounds like DSE need to get their dozer down there.

Haunted Stream Track itself isn't too bad as far as overgrowth.Turntable western section of Dawson City are in need of a scrub up. A couple of the river crossings on Haunted are badly washed out and provide quite a challenge. We winched one up and snatched the rest to reduce further damage.
Best access is northern section of Dawson City, Stirling Track, and Five Mile Spur. Stream level was pretty low in the bits we could access.
