I have a RM4200 3way Electolux Fridge in my toyota Hi Ace. The fridge works well on 12 and 240 volt and on gas, if I can get it to light. I took it to a dealer who determined that the piezoelectric igniter had move too far away from the gas and for that reason it failed to light. After readjusting the igniter (at great expense) the fridge lit OK however after 200 K on sealed road it again failed to light. On returning it to the dealer he believed he could strengthen the igniter to allow it to remain in place and therefore to function. When I removed the van from the dealer the fridge worked on gas however after driving for another 300 k on sealed (but bendy ) road it has again failed. A popping noise from gas build up when i try to light it suggests the piezo igniter has moved again. Has anyone out there had a similiar problem? Does this mean i need to replace the fridge or is there some magic answer. The fridge is about 14 years old

Hi Anthony,
Same thing happened to our old RM 360 between Yunta & Hawker in September.
The ceramic material the spark rod has to insulate it from the metal ,were it goes through a plate, had become worn over the years. and the rod was touching where the flame sits, so it failed to spark.
So on getting home, I ripped into finding out how to fix it, I used some high temp gasket silicone. which has held it in place.
If you can get in there and put a dob on either side of it, that may help with holding it place.

At the red marking.
Here is a downloadable PDF file of an old fridge like ours, they are nearly the same from model to model.RM360 Manual
Give that a go.

Cheers.
