190 WELDMATIC
Date issued: 16 September 2011
Identification
The recall covers the Portable GMAW (MIG) welding machine with the model number WIA 190 by Welding Industries Australia, for welding steel, aluminum, stainless steel, with gas shielded wire or flux cored gasless wire.
These welders are Single phase 240Vac input, max output 190A 23.5Vac, Class1 appliance welding machines.
They can also be identified by either the part number for the complete package (CP131-0) or the part number for the power supply only (CP131-2).
These can be further identified with the serial numbers:
C1312A1110XXX to C1312A0411XXX, C1312A0611XXX and C1312A0711XXX
These welders were sold nationally between 1 February 2011 and 8 September 2011.
Safety issue
Risk of Electric Shock
Due to a manufacturing assembly process error, the unit's side ventilation louvres could pierce the internal wiring from the welding transformer and the metal case could become electrically live, posing a risk of electric shock.
Action required
Stop using the welding machine immediately. Contact WIA to confirm serial numbers and arrange an inspection and repair at no cost to the customer.
