I am trying to find out the name of the large towing mirrors that actually replaces your 4WD side mirrors. I saw them at a caravan &
camping show and they seem the way to go as they bolt into the same place once you remove your current side mirrors. I have lost the leaflet I had and I can't remember who manufactures them. Would love any feedback if you have a set on your vehicle as they are expensive to buy.

I don't know of the brand you are referring to. I do not remove my existing external mirrors & neither do numerous other people using towing aides like Aussie Truck Mirrors. The Aussie Truck mirror hooks into door so as not to impede window movement. There is a strap (like
seat belt material) which goes down the side of the door & a clip attaches under the bottom of your door. There is a ratchet type winder & an adjustment for lateral settings. There is a
forum called "Caravaners Forum" there are numerous posts on there about towing mirrors too. Hope this helps. I purchased
mine from a caravan accessories stockist like Jayco (Who also have a change over clip for the bottom of your door as some clips supplied inhibit door closure)

Don't know anything about them as they don't make them for the Jackaroo.
Just remembered seeing them in a magazine atricle.
Enjoy

I saw a set on a 200 series today and wandered what they were. This thread answered my question. We will have to wait for the 76 series but. We had the truck ones with our last van and found they were horrible. The new van is coming soon so hopefully they will be available before the van comes.

Daschin,
The Clearview Mirrors are great. I have a set fitted to my Prado and would never go back to anything else
There are some drawbacks though.
They are very wide and you have to rethink a few things like getting in and out of tight spaces, especially in car parks. I have found that in some car parks, I have to fold the mirrors in because most people dont look when opening their doors and the mirrors get hit a bit.
The other drawback is of course the price. but having said that, as a tow mirror they are great.
Hope this helps,
Cheers,
Cruiser

Hi Cruiser
Thanks for the feedback really appreciate it. I had a look at them today and agree they are a little large but them again I don't think you could get a better towing mirror. As we are getting ready for a 12 month trip around this great land of ours I have decided to invest in them.
I will follow your lead and fold them in when in car parks to prevent careless people hitting them.
I guess now is to sell the ones I am currently using to help pay for the new ones.
Happy travelling

Daschin,
You wont regret it, they are rock solid with no vibration when towing, unlike the Aussie Truck mirrors that I have previously used.
Cheers,
Cruiser

I have them (clearview)on the patrol, they are a little large when not towing, & you must get use to folding them back in the bush but they are great, I put it off for a few years due to the cost, but now wonder why I waited, but be warned on the patrol you do notice the blind spot you get on the drivers side due to the size, but all in all a great product

Good on everybody that gets proper mirrors when towing.
See so many idiots with narrow cars towing a large van and they cannot see anything behind, and no, they do not have a camera's either. Even with a camera, mirrors can be a life saver for you and others. Too many times had people pull into the right lane when alongside because they cannot see anything.
Good on ya's.

Hi Daschin,
I have the mirrors that you are talking about. They are "Clearview" mirrors. I have put them on a 200 series Landcruiser. They replace the original mirrors using the original electrics. When towing simply pull them out to extend them and when reaching your destination, simply push them back in. They can be purchased direct online from Clearview but I purchased
mine through my local ARB store in Gympie.
