Check the 2 bolts fixing the brake calipers in place. I don't know if it's a problem across the board but it did happen to me a few years ago in my Disco and I was speaking to a bloke recently who commented it happened to his mates Rangie.
In my case the trailing bolt fell out allowing the caliper to ride up the disc and cam lock on the inside of the wheel rim. Luckily we were only travelling at 5-10 kph in heavy traffic as the front driver's side wheel locked up tight for no apparent reason (at the time) ... scared the bleep out of us and we had only arrived back into town after many hours at 100 k on the highway. Could have been absolute disaster.
I was fairly bleep ty with the dealer at the time as I had mentioned a strange noise at slow speed in the brakes ... just like something clunking as if a bolt was loose allowing movement. They reckoned they'd checked it out and could find nothing amiss. It was not that long after that the bloody bolt fell out.
They have Loctite on the thread but apparently it may not have been properly tightened in the factory.
It's not adifficult job, just remove the
wheels to gain access. You'll need a 13mm double hex socket.
As I said it may not be an across the board issue but I'll be keeping an eye on the bludgers on my Fender.
I wasn't even there when it happened ..
