hi
would be easy to break into my camper,
one point locking door, one simple slide window aso.
Does anybody know an reliable motion sensor alarm system
for B class camper/ motorhomes?

Sensors in the car cabine and a few in the living area, and
I don't even have to bother with an imobilyser?
Everything connected to the horn and battery, remote activation

Hi 184............My wife and I sleep pretty soundly when we are free camping and so I needed an alarm system that 1. covered both the vehicle and the caravan. 2. had to wake us up and NOT scare the living daylights out of us. 3. Needed to, not only alert us but also give the would be thieves a start and hopefully cause them to flee also.

So I designed my own and it has the following.......
1. It is armed and silenced from inside the van.
2. When armed it covers both vehicles, even the stuff on the roof rack as well.
3. Any attempt to disconnect it from the vehicle sets it off.
4. It relys on the van batteries for power.
5. It turns on external flood lights that light all the outside of the van and vehicle as well.
6. It utilises a reversing type alarm that starts soft and steadily increases in volume to where it can be heard even outside the van. ( this gives you a chance to turn off the sound and not scare the crap out of you.) But the flood lights remain on and so allow you to peak out and check your surroundings before going out to investigate.
7. Also you are able to test the system and manually operate the flood lights independantly without setting off the alarm if you hear any strange noises and want to check out what is outside.

It works very well as I have accidently set it off when I have got up and forgot to disarm it.........ask the cook.

How much did it cost you to make up if you don't mind me asking and where did you source your components from? Is it a wireless system?
Thanks

No...it's not a wireless system but all hard wired....basically relay logic......... we used to have a dick smith 'electronics" store before they stopped that side of the business but you would get all you need from jaycar or similar type of store.

I first went through the vehicle and van wiring circuits and built the alarm circuit around them utilising switches and signals already in place.

Gradually I built the circuit up modifying it as I went......a good project to get your head around.

Oh...and the cost was only small....basically the cost was directly related to the complexity of the alarm circuit........less than $50.

184,
Just a thought to consider;
Don't make it too sensitive.
You don't want it going off because you just rolled over in bed, any other in bed activities,or moths flying around.

My Disco has an inbuilt motion sensor as part of its security system, it goes off if a moth flies around in the cab. It's a damn nuisance at 3.00am

Disco.

thanks guys, so cook will know how to create one?
yes, shaking curtains in the wind.

Alarm systems seem to be not so common,
maybe only in modern coaches ... hey, or yachts!
