Has anybody had any experience of those modern four or six-man tents with an external frame that pops out like a beach shelter and is then covered with a fly?
They operate on much the same principle as the OzTent but are significantly cheaper.

I think the Coleman Instant tent is the best of that bunch, correct me if I am wrong. Off course you get what you pay for and thats why they are significantly cheaper, however if you don't do a serious amount of
camping then it doesn't matter as much. I have an Oztent, I love the finish and quality, it's a little heavy and big but thats ok.
Here is a review of the Coleman instant tent, bear in mind it's a USA review and I think the Aussie product is a little different, somebody might be able to shed some more light on this. The review nevertheless answers a lot of the questions you no doubt have.

Thank you, that is good, particularly the video showing how to erect it. We do have faith in Coleman products so will give it a try.
Thanks for the help.
