I'm having problems with ExploreOz, sometimes can't get into it resulting in timeout, mostly very slow. Yesterday and today same prob. No probs on other sites.
I'm using IE5.5 (I refuse to run IE6 on Win98), broadband conex.

Also the ads on the rhs appear garbled if I just use the "back" button instead of "Back to Forum". "Refresh" fixes the ads.

Having server problems over the last few days. I am waiting on a resolution from the hosting company. It was down for a few hours this morning. I am looking into it and have raise hell with the hosting company.Regards

I was down
the beach for a while today - When I got back I also had a look at some of the code that runs the site and I made a few changes that may save some server resources and make everything run a little faster. Let hope and see what happens.Regards

Yeah maybe. It appears that IIS 6 cannot handle the site structures or usgae level and we are now going to move back to IIS 5. Another hosting company sure if they can offer me the bandwidth around 85GB/month, 24 hour support desk, dedicated or low numbered shared server environment, usage of all components that I am currently using, detailed stats server etc.
It may only seem like another 4WD site that should not be to hard to host however experience has now taught me the complexities of managing a large site. Dependancies on Jet 4 drivers, MDAC updates, AV and security all can have impact on the operation of the site at this level.
If I can get the
services and the service then I will talk to anyone about it, however every time a hosting company appears and says we can do it, they end up not getting back to me (including Steve).Regards

Darling the issue is you are using software that demands to much from the hardware. MS is bloatware at its worst and each query size is absolutely humongous ducky. Reason we use Filemaker at work on the server. Now we run double the information with double the seats on half the hardware we previously used. I moved it over a period of 3 months and relied on SQL to keep both going till all was moved. Even if you keep some on MS and move the heavy processing over to Filemaker. The only thing you will be sorry about is you did not do it sooner.
