Hi everyone, I,ve finally got my explorer registered and I,m having fun with it. The only two problems I have is the engine idle speed which almost stalls when the car is stopped, does anyone know how to adjust the speed and can someone tell me how to fix the speedo. I replaced the drive on the gearbox but it still won,t work. It,s got me stumped! cheers Col

G/Day Colin
The
Cook had a 2001 Exploder and I remember the speedo playing up and they replaced a fuse.
It must have been electronic.
She also had a similar problem when she stopped at the traffic lights ect, re stalling at low idle revs, they fixed that after servicing the Electronic Fuel Injectors.
Question! Is the vehicle Auto or Manual.
Cheers

Hi Daza, sorry the explorer is an auto, I noticed that the revs seem to drop to 500 and then starts to run rough. it clears as soon as I start to accelerate. Any ideas cheers Col

If the speedo is not working, that may confuse the ECU and cause poor idling or stalling.

Could be worth spraying some carby cleaner down the throttle body, works on most vehicles.
