Hi Guys, I have the latest Geoscience Natmap Digital maps but I would like to find out a bit more about the Hema Australia 4WD Rastar Map Collection. Question ? Do these maps show the rest areas,
services, airstrips and so on as seen in the mags I subscribe to. By the way I am using Trackranger and would like to use these maps if possible in conjunction with the topo maps of Natmaps. I have these maps added to my wish list. Regards Geoff

Hello forumites - we don't have a copy of the Hema Australia 4wd Raster collection in the office to be able to know if these features Geoff is asking for are shown on maps .... would one of you who has this product, be so kind as to respond to Geoff's query?
Thanks guys,

I just opened
mine on the
Cape York Tip map and it is very detailed, lat and longs on
camping spots, phone no and hours the
Jardine ferry works, cautions and warning on what the tracks are. Basically the only thing on that map it does not give is how much rain they had yesterday lol.
You have to remember that the Hema maps are mainly 4WD ones plus national parks, but the Nat Map Raster is what I use mostly anyway, for driving down the highway and any dirt roads and tracks. I would not be without.

Geoff,
I bought the Hema bundle a few years ago and as Bruce said they have a fair bit of detail similar to their hard copy maps. The Camps Australia book is also pretty good for campsites and I believe there is a softcopy list of the
campsite waypoints available as
well but not sure where it can be obtained. Not sure about Trackranger as I use Oziexplorer when out and about and Copilot in the metro area.

The Hema raster maps are the same as the printed maps apart from a few updates. There is a 2011 edition of the raster maps. From what I can see, the photos of hema maps in the mags are also the same.
The maps will show major rest areas,
camp spots, fuel and food etc etc with little Icons.
Here are a couple of examples.

No problem, anyone with a 200 diesel can't be too bad and must be worth helping.
