Hi
Dingo
To clarify for everyone:
NT allow you to nominate a three week span for the Aboriginal lands transit permit for travelling their side, which is so sensible to allow for unpredictable times when touring a new area.
For the WA transit permit application you have to specify a three day period that you will travel within; they are not flexible. To get around this, i faxed the application from the
Yulara Visitor Centre (small fee applies), and recently
Tjukayirla Roadhouse has set up similar service for travellers heading west to east. However faxing must be done during week days and office hours of the Ngaanjatjarra Office in
Alice Springs, and expect to wait until the next day for return faxing of the permit.
Uluru-
Kata Tjuta National
Park entry (sightseeing) fees: You do not need to pay the $25 per person three day entry fee for the National
Park if you are just transiting, however need to show your Aboriginal lands transit permit if asked or if passing the toll booth (which is on the east the west direction). If travelling west to east and in addition to transiting, are visiting Uluru and/or
Kata Tjuta, you are required to purchase the $25 passes - fines apply for breaches.
